What a moment for Birmingham.

Yesterday, our office sat right beside the heart of the celebrations as thousands of Aston Villa supporters flooded the city centre to welcome home their Europa League champions, and the atmosphere was unlike anything we’ve experienced before.

From the crowds gathering along the streets to the sea of claret and blue filling Centenary Square, Birmingham was absolutely electric. Flags waved from every direction, flares lit the sky, and chants echoed through the city as fans celebrated Aston Villa’s first major European trophy since 1982.

Less than 24 hours after Villa’s incredible 3-0 victory over Freiburg in Istanbul, the team returned home to a hero’s welcome. An estimated 20,000 supporters packed into Centenary Square, with thousands more lining the parade route hours in advance just to catch a glimpse of the open-top bus carrying the Europa League trophy through Birmingham. Roars erupted across the square as the trophy was lifted high above the crowd. Even after the parade ended, the celebrations across the city carried on long into the evening.

Being based right next to the parade route gave us a front-row seat to a genuinely special day for Birmingham. You could feel the pride across the city, not just for Aston Villa, but for what moments like this mean to local communities, businesses, and the city itself.

Events like this showcase Birmingham at its very best: passionate, united, welcoming, and full of energy. The atmosphere brought people together from every corner of the city and reminded everyone just how important sport can be in creating unforgettable shared experiences.

Manager Unai Emery and the Villa squad delivered a night supporters will never forget, and today Birmingham responded in style.
