The joys of your local park
Last week I enjoyed a day off with the little man, which was wonderful and full of joy, apart from trying to get him down for his lunch-time nap! But this did result in me having an unexpected and very pleasant walk round one of our local parks to help get Toby off to sleep.
We are very lucky to live in a city suburb with a wealth of local parks, of all shapes and sizes. Just a few steps down the road from us we have Highbury Park, which was an easy choice for me, being so close. So we headed out and went for a stroll in the afternoon sun.
I was amazed to see such an amount of activitiy happening there, there were groups of school kids exploring the woodland, parents taking a stroll, runners and walkers scattered throughout, sun worshippers enjoying the fine weather, I even stumbled upon a gypsy-folk trio rehearsing in one of the walled areas! There was all sots going on, a real hub of activity!
This made me realise that I don't take advantage of these parks enough, considering I'm surrounded by so many great parks, not just Highbury Park, but Kings Heath Park, Hazelwell Park, and not to forget the legendary Cannon Hill Park.
So, I guess this is a note to myself to get out more and enjoys these local delights, and a little prompt to encourage everyone else to take advantage of their local park too. We have some lovely parks available to us, let's enjoy them!
And yes, Toby got to sleep in the end!
