It’s heating up in the city, with soaring temperatures turning Birmingham into a sauna! We thought we’d use this oppotunity to take a look at some of the things going on around town, to keep you distracted from the face-melting heat...

Although you’re probably sleeping without one at the moment, The 'Festival of Quilts' is happening from the 1st – 4th August, which is being held at the NEC. Here you can check out an array of beautifully-designed and crafted quilts in a range of stunning colours and designs – a treat for any fan of art, design and craft, and obviously, quilts.

A must for the city’s creatives, August 29th at Birmingham Airport sees the August meetup of the Bank of Creativity. From 6pm – 8pm you can get to know fellow creative folk, share ideas and make great contacts.

For the foodies out there, Saturday 10th August brings the Jerk festival to Birmingham, taking place at the Quantum Events Centre. This is Birmingham's first Jerk Festival, which delivers the taste of the Caribbean directly to the city centre.

However, if all you want to do is cool off, you could just take a walk down to the new fountains in Centenary Square. Plenty of people (ok, mostly kids) have been running through the water to cool down, so why not join them? There's no time like the present...

Enjoy!
